SUMMARY:Brown Bag: Modern Concrete Repair
DESCRIPTION:Concrete Restoration Process Overview: This portion of the program provides an overview of the information gathering phases of the concrete restoration process\, including on-site analysis\, and determining the causes of concrete failure. Significant time is spent discussing the steel corrosion process\, and modern methods of treatment and prevention\, including the use of cathodic protection and corrosion inhibiting admixtures. \n\n \n\nRepair Material Selection: Physical concrete repair material properties such as bond strength\, linear shrinkage\, and modulus of elasticity are discussed. Recommendations by the American Concrete Institute (ACI)\, International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) and the Corps of Engineers regarding material selection are covered. We will also discuss modern concrete repair methods including\; surface prep techniques\, the use of bonding agents\, trowel applied repairs\, form and pour repairs\, and both wet and dry process shotcrete application of repair mortars.\n\n\n\nSpeaker(s): Matthew R. Hansen is a graduate of the University of Toledo\, Ohio. He has more than 30 years of successful experience in sales\, marketing\, and technical services within the concrete industry. He has been employed by the Euclid Chemical Company for over 20 years\, and currently holds the position of National Business Development Manager. Matthew is a member of the American Concrete Institute committees ACI 362 Parking Structures\, ACI 546 Repair of Concrete\, ACI 563 Specifications for Repair of Structural Concrete in Buildings\, and the International Concrete Repair Institute committee 110 Guide Specifications.
