DESCRIPTION:This presentation will describe the Resilient Communities Project (RCP) program.  The RCP is a multidisciplinary program at the U of MN that creates relationships connecting students and faculty with cities and counties in Minnesota to address their community-identified needs through course-based projects. \n\n \n\nYou will learn how the program works\, provide an overview of RCP's current partnership with the City of Ramsey\, and present example projects that demonstrate how students can help local communities address their sustainability and resilience needs while providing benefit to both the University and community partners. This program is designed to harness the underutilized source of knowledge\, information and creativity University of Minnesota students and faculty can bring to make local communities in Minnesota more sustainable. You'll learn about opportunities for members to partner with the program.\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenters: Mike Greco\, University of Minnesota. Mike Greco\, AICP\, is co-founder and director of the Resilient Communities Project (RCP)\, a program of the University of Minnesota's Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA) that provides research and technical assistance to cities and counties in Minnesota to advance community resilience. Mike has a master of urban and regional planning degree from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota\, with a specialization in environmental planning and sustainability\, and a master of arts degree in communication studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves as chair of the Dakota County Planning Commission\, as well as on local and national advisory committees on sustainability issues and community-university engagement.\n\n \n\nTim Gladhill\, City of Ramsey. Tim Gladhill is the Community Development Director for the City of Ramsey\, providing leadership for long-range planning\, zoning administration\, and building inspections. As Community Development Director\, Tim also serves as the Project Coordinator for Ramsey's participation in the Resilient Communities Project. Tim has Bachelors in Science degree in Urban and Regional Studies and Bachelors in Science Degree in Geography from Minnesota State University\, Mankato as well as a Masters in Geographic Information Science from the University of Minnesota. Tim is also the President of the American Planning Association Minnesota Chapter.
