SUMMARY:Capitol Consulting Day
DESCRIPTION:ACEC/MN members are invited to St. Paul on Thursday\, February 14\, 2019 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm to participate in the 21st Annual Capitol Consulting Day.\n\n\n\nActions at the legislature have a significant effect on the consulting engineering community. We need to join together to educate our legislators on why these issues affecting our profession are important and matter not just to consulting engineers\, but to Minnesota. \n\nWe have invited a number of legislative leaders and new agency heads to introduce themselves to the group and make brief presentations. This is a great opportunity for you to get a heads up on the direction we will see from not only the legislature\, but from the executive branch\, as well.\n\nConfirmed presenters include:\n\n\n	Margaret Anderson Kelliher\, MnDOT Commissioner\n	Suzanne Sobotka\, Gov. Tim Walz's Office\n	Paul Gazelka\, Senate Majority Leader\n	Tom Bakk\, Senate Minority Leader\n	Kurt Daudt\, House Minority Leader\n\n\nAdditional invitations have been extended to:\n\n\n	Nora Slawik\, Chair Metropolitan Council\n	Frank Hornstein\, Chair House Transportation and Finance Policy Division\n\n\nSchedule\, Parking Information and talking points for meetings with legislators \n\nLeave behind sheet for legislators\n\n\n\nView or download 2019 position papers here:\n\n\n\nDon't know who represents you? Find your legislator HERE. \n\n\n\n*Please include your district number and representatives in the "comments" section.\n\nEncourage young professionals in your firm to attend Capitol Consulting Day. We need to begin to "pass the torch" so that future generations can get involved\, become comfortable in the political process\, and continue to move things forward for the State of Minnesota and the engineering profession\, as a whole. Meeting with legislators doesn't need to be intimidating. Believe it or not\, they actually want to meet with their constituents to better understand their issues of importance. This can\, and will\, affect the way legislators vote.
