SUMMARY:CHS Field (St. Paul Saints Stadium) Tour & Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Project Summary \n\nThe City of Saint Paul and the St. Paul Saints led the planning\, financing\, design and creation of this new 7\,000-seat ballpark located in Lowertown Saint Paul. This project began with demolishing the old Gillette Building along with extensive soil remediation\, but a large portion of the foundation below the filed was left in place. Along with the bleachers\, suites and indoor amenities\, there were extensive utility improvements\, structural enhancements and several stormwater BMPs including tree trenches\, filtration chambers\, infiltration basins\, a rain garden and a rainwater harvesting and re-use system. This rainwater harvesting and re-use system is the first ever project in Saint Paul to re-use rainwater for flushing toilets in a commercial project\, which was made possible by grant support from the Metropolitan Council and Capitol Region Watershed District. \n\n\n\nDemolition began in the summer of 2013 and the ballpark is scheduled to be completed in April 2015. The St. Paul Saints' Opening Day is scheduled for Thursday\, May 21st at 7pm. \n\n\n\nTour Overview \n\nWe will meet at the main entry on North Broadway Street to see the tree trenches (not completed yet) and entry plaza. Then we will tour the concourse level to see the primary structure\, bleachers\, concession areas and a community dog park along the North side. We will then proceed to the suite level above the concourse. Next\, we will travel to the outfield to see more of the structural components\, utilities and the 27\,000-gallon rainwater harvesting tank that will store water from Metro Transit's LRT Operation & Maintenance Facility. Finally\, we will tour the parking lot and "The Lawn" behind the left field wall. \n\n\n\n***Tours start immediately at 11:00am. Please meet in the Securian Club at CHS Field\, 360 North Broadway Street just East of St. Paul Farmer's Market). We will then break into smaller groups. \n\n\n\nPresenters \n\nPaul Bakke\, ERA and John Hink\, Solution Blue (both ACEC/MN members) worked on the ballpark and will be guiding the tours. Additional ACEC/MN firms will be present to answer questions on the following pieces\, Braun Intertec Corporation (Environmental/Geotechnical)\, TKDA (Utility Relocation/Traffic Study)\, Kimley-Horn and Associates\, Inc. (Duct Bank Relocation) and AECOM (Sports Stadium Design).
