SUMMARY:Deck Connections and the Factors that Affect Performance
DESCRIPTION:The structural community specifies roof and floor deck connections as traditional arc spot puddle welds\, screw fasteners\, or mechanical fasteners. This course will identify the strengths and limitations of deck connection types and will bring awareness to the most consistent and reliable fastening approach.\n\nThe objectives of the course are:\n\n\n\n Identify the factors influencing deck diaphragm design \n\n Explore the field and jobsite conditions affecting welding performance \n\n Compare the consistency of deck connection types \n\n Understand the working principles of mechanical fasteners\n\n \n\nSpeaker: Mindy Beringer is the local Field Engineer for Hilti. She covers the upper Midwest region\, but her main focus is the Twin Cities area. She have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa. She has been in this role for almost 2 years\, and has been with Hilti for 3-1/2 years with a specialty in fastening.\n\n \n This program is free to ACEC/MN members \n\nLunch is being provided by Hilti\n\n\n\n* NOTE: To the best of our knowledge\, this program meets the requirements of continuing education as outlined by the Minnesota Board of Registration and should count as 1.0 PDH or .1 CEU of development towards required continuing education credits. Certificates will be distributed to those in attendance immediately following the seminar.
