Do you want to learn what you need to know about becoming an expert witness?\n\n \n\nRule 702 of the Federal Rules of Evidence provides that if scientific\, technical\, or other specialized knowledge will assist the trier of fact (judge or jury) to understand the evidence or to determine an issue\, a witness qualified as an expert by knowledge\, skill\, experience\, training\, or education may testify thereto in form of an opinion or otherwise.\n\n \n\nThis presentation will include what attorneys are looking for in a technical expert witness.\n\n\n	\n		\n			Why testimony is important\n		\n			What to watch out for\n		\n			What information will be needed from the engineer\n	\n\n \n\nPresenter:  Tom Downs has over thirty years engineering practice specializing in industrial\, commercial and residential structures. His experience includes involvement in all phases of structural design of building systems. Mr. Downs is the past President of BKBM Engineers. He also served in the roles of president and national director of ACEC/MN. Mr. Downs has been a guest lecturer at: University of Minnesota\, University of South Dakota\, American Society of Civil Engineers\, Structural Stability Research Council\, American Institute of Architects\, American Institute of Steel Construction\, Minnesota Concrete Council and International Conference of Building Officials. He has his Bachelor and Master of Civil Engineering\, from the University of Minnesota.
