SUMMARY:Mapping the Way to Digital Delivery at MnDOT
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, October 21st as key MnDOT staff map out the transition to digital delivery - see below for more details on this topic and our presenters.\n\n\n\nSession Summary:\n\nImplementation of model-based digital delivery for transportation projects provides multiple advantages\, including more efficient planning and design\, cost reductions\, and improved field safety. Successful digital delivery requires active management of project and asset data throughout their lifecycle\, from the planning and scoping phase to design\, advertisement and letting\, contract award\, construction\, inspection\, and asset management. MnDOT's pursuit of digital delivery began around 2018\, but there were earlier efforts that helped advance the transition from delivering only paper/PDF plans to producing and handing out digital files. Implementation of digital delivery continues as the agency works toward a fully digital methodology in which traditional plan sections are replaced by enriched digital models as contractual deliverables. MnDOT is striving to create workflow efficiencies and to work through challenges and requirements for implementation of a successful digital delivery program.\n\n\n\nAgenda:\nIntroduction: Nicki Bartelt\, MnDOT Assistant Division Director of Operations\n\nThe introduction will cover an overview of MnDOT's Operations Division roadmap for digital delivery of select sections of the historical paper/PDF plan and what to anticipate during the upcoming years for each implementation phase.\n\n \n\nDigital Delivery Process - Rebecca Embacher\, MnDOT State Advanced Materials and Technology Engineer\n\nThe Digital Delivery Process will outline a hybrid digital delivery process to allow for delivery of plan set sections in the historical PDF format\, along with the remaining plan set sections being digitally delivered. Discussions will include: creation of Project-Specific Electronic Data (P-SED) plan sheets\, Division S Special Provisions\, use and management/tracking of P-SED\, Advertisement\, and examples of Phase I Digital Delivery plan sheets and P-SED.\n\n \n\nPhase III Digital Delivery Project in District 2 - Laura Carlson\, MnDOT D2 Design Engineer\n\nDistrict 2 will provide details on an upcoming project that is part of MnDOT's Phase III Digital Delivery implementation. Discussions will include general project information\, which historical plan/PDF sections will be digitally delivered\, and what steps are being followed to help promote successful workflows and delivery from design\, review\, advertisement\, to construction.\n\n\n\nAttendees will receive 1 PDH for attending this event\, attendance will be verified using zoom attendance records.
