DESCRIPTION:The April Monthly meeting presentation on the MN Conservation Code will be a great precursor to the Annual Seminar on Existing Structures on May 9th. We encourage you to register for both events\, see more details and register here.\n\n\n\nPresentation Description: MN Conservation Code\n\n \n\nThe April MNSEA monthly meeting will focus on the MN Conservation Code for Existing Buildings. The presenters will give a general overview of the different levels of alterations\, and the effect they have on design decisions. The different compliance methods will be covered with tips and tricks given on which method may be most appropriate for a given project. The presentation will finish with the structural implications of conformance to the conservation code. Case studies of recent MN projects will be covered by the presenters\, and they will describe how their approach lead to code-compliant and creative structural solutions for complex situations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAndrew Rauch\, PE\, SE\, LEED-AP\n\nAndrew (Andy) is President and Principal Structural Engineer for BKBM Engineers and has been with the firm for nearly 40 years. He is a licensed PE and SE. Having overseen the design and construction of a wide variety of projects\, Andy has become an expert on existing building code. He has given back to the profession in many ways\, having served as president of MNSEA (2002-2003) and chair of CASE (2013-2015). He has been honored by ACEC having received the Coalitions Distinguished Service Award and the CASE Past President's Award.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nScott Anderson\, AIA\, CBO\, LEED-AP\n\nScott is the Building Plan Review Supervisor for the City of Minneapolis.  First licensed as an architect in California in 1989 he has been involved in a wide variety of projects in several states\,  including schools and universities\,  government facilities\,  churches\, apartment buildings\,  restaurants and car dealerships.  Scotts long time interest in code development and compliance led him to join the City of Minneapolis as a plans examiner in 2012.  Scott is a Licensed Architect (CA + MN)\,  ICC Certified Plans Examiner\,  ICC + Minnesota Certified Building Official.  He also serves on the ICC Code Interpretation Committee and is the AIA-MN representative to the Governor's Council on Fire Prevention and Control.
