SUMMARY:MNSEA Monthly Meeting - November 2022
DESCRIPTION:Speaker / Presentation: November 8 - Kate Golden\, Mortenson\n\n\n\nWhy do Good People Make Bad Decisions? \n\nMost engineers are people of integrity who fully expect to make the right call in tough moments\, but even well intentioned engineers can find themselves on the wrong end of a decision\, or fail to recognize they were at a turning point of an ethical dilemma until it was too late. This presentation explores why good people may have failed to identify an ethical dilemma or made a bad choice\, referencing studies and using recent case examples\, and concludes with some practices to help guard against making bad ethical decision in your practice.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKate Golden is Senior Vice President\, Deputy General Counsel for M. A. Mortenson Company\, a commercial builder headquartered in Minnesota that engages in a variety of complex construction projects throughout North America. Prior to getting her law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law\, Kate obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering and she is licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Minnesota. Kate has taught "Construction Law" as an adjunct professor in local law schools and also taught "Legal and Ethical Issues in Construction" to undergraduates in the construction management program at the University of Minnesota.
