SUMMARY:Monthly Meeting with MN Chamber of Commerce
DESCRIPTION:The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and ACEC/MN are partnered for this Monthly Meeting\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nACEC/MN and The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce are holding this joint meeting to discuss the business assistance programs the Minnesota Chamber has available for members of ACEC/MN. Our speaker will also address the legislative positions the chamber is supporting to help ACEC/MN member firms (e.g. tax & labor mandates) and specifically for your engineering firm's discipline. For many firms\, a concern has been a growing shortage of personnel in the engineering profession. ACEC/MN is very interested in how to address this issue\, not only through typical paths to this profession\, but through alternative avenues that will help diversify the mix of professionals. The Minnesota Chamber will share with attendees some of the programs it has initiated throughout the state to meet our workforce requirements.\n\n\n\nPresenter: Bill Blazar is senior vice president of public affairs and business development at the Minnesota Chamber. In that capacity\, he is responsible for the Chamber's policy and political programs. He also directs Grow Minnesota!\, the Chamber's statewide business retention and assistance program. \n\n\n\n Blazar represents the Minnesota business community on several boards which include Generation Next Leadership Council\, the Metropolitan Economic Development Association and the U.S. Chamber Labor Relations Policy Committee. He is president of the Loppet Foundation Board of Directors.\n\nBlazar has a B.A. in political science from Northwestern University and an M.A. in public affairs from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs\, University of Minnesota.
