SUMMARY:Women in Engineering: Conflict Engagement: A New Model for Engineering Firms
DESCRIPTION:Organizations need to create the space for conflict to occur in a constructive way\, for people to raise difficult and contentious issues\, and for leaders to be exposed to often uncomfortable disagreements. If this doesn't happen\, problems fester\, important views are silenced\, and effective communication is inhibited. \n\n \n\nEffectively using conflict and how we respond to conflict is critical to our effectiveness as leaders. This professional development event will talk about the benefits of workplace conflict\, how to identify issues that cause conflicts\, describe the 5 conflict-handling modes\, and leave attendees with some practical tools to more effectively engage in workplace conflict. \n\n \n\nPresenter: Christine Wiegert is a senior executive with 25 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry. She currently is Vice President / Area Manager at HDR in Minneapolis. Christine holds a Civil Engineering degree from Marquette University\, and master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Bethel where she focused her studies on workplace conflict management.
