A smart city connects all infrastructure - electric, gas, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, lighting, security - in diverse neighborhoods and communities using technology to drive operational excellence, increase revenue potential and support sustainable customer lifestyles. But how do we “think big, start small and move fast?” An “innovation neighborhood” can be the first step toward a smart city as cities and communities compete for residents and set the stage for sustainable growth and increased prosperity.
Presenter: Mike Beehler is a Vice President at Burns & McDonnell. Mike has written and presented extensively on the subjects of security, reliability-centered maintenance, program management and the smart grid. Specifically, Mike was referenced in the Engineering, Inc. article, “Navigating A Smart Future.”
Mike has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. He is a registered professional engineer in eight states, a member of IEEE and CIGRE, and a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers.
