Description
What keeps you up at night? Do you feel like you juggle too many things? When you have a busy personal life and your work plate is full, is it possible to not sacrifice one for the other? Our filters operate in our unconscious; make decisions for us; make judgments and determinations about others—all without our knowing. And it’s even worse: because the vast majority of us are controlled by our filters, we don’t realize how we perpetuate ineffectiveness with each other. Whether an individual or an organization, our ability to see, understand, and consciously shift these filters determines our effectiveness across all interactions and all situations.
This session offers a clear way to understand how our unconscious filters work to unknowingly dictate our effectiveness when trying to communicate across differences. Participants will learn how to apply the concepts of filters and frames to begin to perceive, describe, and change their approaches. They will learn the three Filter Shift® steps to reduce the negative interference of our own unconscious filters, better understand the filters of others, and then respond more effectively.
Presenter: Sara Taylor is a nationally recognized speaker, author and consultant. Sara is a thought leader in the area of Diversity and Cultural Competence. Her bestselling book, Filter Shift: How Effective People SEE the World, is used by numerous individuals and organizations to increase success and create greater effectiveness in interactions across difference. Sara’s company, deepSEE Consulting (www.deepSEEConsulting.com) works with local, national and global clients to take their Diversity and Inclusion work to the next level.
