Description
ACEC/MN members are invited to St. Paul on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm to participate in the 21st Annual Capitol Consulting Day.
Actions at the legislature have a significant effect on the consulting engineering community. We need to join together to educate our legislators on why these issues affecting our profession are important and matter not just to consulting engineers, but to Minnesota.
We have invited a number of legislative leaders and new agency heads to introduce themselves to the group and make brief presentations. This is a great opportunity for you to get a heads up on the direction we will see from not only the legislature, but from the executive branch, as well.
Confirmed presenters include:
- Margaret Anderson Kelliher, MnDOT Commissioner
- Suzanne Sobotka, Gov. Tim Walz’s Office
- Paul Gazelka, Senate Majority Leader
- Tom Bakk, Senate Minority Leader
- Kurt Daudt, House Minority Leader
Additional invitations have been extended to:
- Nora Slawik, Chair – Metropolitan Council
- Frank Hornstein, Chair – House Transportation and Finance Policy Division

Encourage young professionals in your firm to attend Capitol Consulting Day. We need to begin to "pass the torch" so that future generations can get involved, become comfortable in the political process, and continue to move things forward for the State of Minnesota and the engineering profession, as a whole. Meeting with legislators doesn't need to be intimidating. Believe it or not, they actually want to meet with their constituents to better understand their issues of importance. This can, and will, affect the way legislators vote.
